With the trailer showing pretty fight scenes and promising to be entertaining giving us a female lead, ‘Kate’ seems like a pretty amazing movie and the only way to find out and give answers to our curiosity is to hit the cinemas to find out how the movie fared.
Story
When Kate (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a professionally trained Tokyo assassin unfortunately blows an assignment, she quickly realized she’s been poisoned and now she has less than 24 hours to find out who her killers are and take out her revenge before her body finally deteriorates. In the process she forms an unseen friendship with the teenage daughter of one of her ex victims.

‘Kate’ is an amazing action movie directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan which tells a story of a well trained assassin who has great skills but was poisoned on her last mission after unfortunately blowing it and now she has less than 24hours to find her poisoner and take revenge before the poison finally kills her.
Although the beginning was somewhat slow and boring due to the introduction of characters, it picked it’s pace afterwards and went in smoothly. A movie with great music score by Nathan Barr and beautiful cinematography by Lyle Vincent showing the wonderful and sparkling night life in Tokyo.
A movie with a familiar badass storyline like ‘John Wick’ but having a female lead this making the climax predictable but entertaining notwithstanding. Smooth fight scenes and great action choreography and also pretty sharp editing were some of the highlights of the movie.
Other technical aspects of the film were fine.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead did amazingly great in her role as Kate being a badass and kind at the same time and also the fact that she didn’t need to look sexy at all times was really cool. Miku Martineau as the child actor Ani was fine compared to other child actors who makes unbelievable decisions or acts as an emotional support object. Her comics were also entertaining and came right on time. Woody Harrelson as Varrick the menacing fatherly puppet master was also good though he wasn’t given much screen time.
Other characters were really amazing and did great.
In all, ‘Kate’ is an awesome action movie with great action and fight scenes that’ll keep you entertained all through giving you acts of a female ‘John Wick’ and more not leaving out the beautiful Cinematography and wonderful music score. You wouldn’t want to miss this one not to talk of missing any scene in this mind blowing movie.
Bottom line: An awesome action movie.
