🇳🇬 Nigeria Elections Postponed
INEC has postponed elections to next Saturday, 23rd February following an emergency meeting held on Friday 15th, 2019.
Ahead of the presidential and national assembly elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 16, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had an emergency meeting late on Friday 15, 2019.
According to reports, the urgent meeting was as a result of the challenges facing the exercise as materials needed for the elections have not been distributed in some states.
In the view of this, the Nigeria national election slated to hold February 16th, 2019 is now postponed by a week to 23th February, 2019.
According to their statement:
“Following a careful review of the implementation of its logistics and operational plan and determination …. the Commission came to the conclusion that proceeding with the elections as scheduled is no longer feasible.”
General elections will be held in Nigeria on 23 February 2019, postponed from 16 February 2019, to elect the President, Vice President and the National Assembly. Meanwhile, that will be the sixth quadrennial elections since the end of military rule in 1999.
